Good afternoon, my brothers and sisters in Christ.
I know it has been been a little bit since I last posted and created this blog so I decided that I would put something up to let you all know how I've been doing. So, if Father God will grant me the strength, let's began, shall we?
Recently, as sad as I am to say it, I fell off of my walk. I slumped back into the night of my past life and left behind the light of my new day. It hurt me on the inside to see that as I came back to school for the summer, I went back to using profane language and doing somethings that the bible warns me against. While they weren't inherently bad and condemning, I didn't like the fact that my conviction could be so easily shaken. So, last night, as I stood outside on the balcony of my room on the seventh floor of my building; I had a discussion with God.
I let the lord know of everything that was in my heart and asked for forgiveness and help to get back upon my walk and continue forward. I'll let you in on something. No matter what state of mind you are in or how far gone you think you really are, you are never too far away for the lord to hear you. Almost immediately, the worries that were in my heart vanished and allowed me to just be me. Granted, I slept in a didn't wake up to read my bible like I should have but it is okay. While I am not guaranteed tomorrow, if I am to awaken tomorrow morning, I will reach over into my bed-side drawer, pull out my bible and soak up this love letter that the lord has given us.
It is really amazing the things that the lord does to you when you really want them and pray about them. For those of you who do not know, I am on the karate team at Texas State University-San Marcos. I was blessed enough to be granted coaches with world caliber skills such as Grandmaster Daniel G. Baker (multiple time sport karate forms, breaking, self defense and sparring world champion, black belt in multiple arts, Vietnam survivor and president of the Kajukenbo Ohana Association), Scott Johnson (black belt in multiple arts, a accomplished author and an all around butt kicker), Brian Gomez (2nd Degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo under Dan Baker), William "Trey" Branch III (Kodokan Judo Black Belt under Dan Baker, international judo superstar and the smartest surfer dude type you will ever meet) and a plethora of other men and women who have helped me reach the rank of Sankyu and are helping me approach my Nikyu test coming up at the end of July. On this journey, I have discovered more about myself as a martial artist than I had previously known and thus it has helped me to redefine my writing.
It is this newfound understanding of martial arts, stunts, tricking and most of all, Christ, that has helped me to re-define my idea of what a good martial arts story is. So, I have decided to start re-writing the story that started the journey for me in writing and hopefully, through the use of common christian themes and martial arts combined, I will be able to promote the lord's will through the martial arts.
So, this is pretty much all that is going on. I recently, as in like thirty minutes ago, began dating a new girl named Megan. It is interesting to say the least to date a white girl but I am excited about the opportunity to learn another culture because as it stands, she's jewish. This ought to be interesting.
